What are Cub Scouts? Who are Cub Scouts?

Cub Scouts learning to cook over campfire coals.

Cub Scouting is fun! No matter what grade you are in, Kindergarten through 5th, it can be a blast. Do you like to learn by doing? Then our Pack is just the place. You can learn to tie knots, set up a tent, shoot a bow and arrow, use pocket knives and build campfires. Have you ever cooked a meal on a campfire? Sent a secret code to a buddy? Built a birdhouse? Gone on a hike? As a Cub Scout, your child will be part of our Pack.  Our Pack is divided into smaller groups called dens. Each den has about six to eight boys or six to eight girls. All of the Cub Scouts in your den are based upon grade level and our Scouts cover many of the Schools here in Stratford.

Since 1910, parents have recognized Scouting as a program that can enhance the core values and principles you want to instill in your child. Our Pack has been a mainstay of Scouting in Stratford. We have been a constant presence in town since 1941. We invite you, your family and friends to join our Pack, our legacy and experience all that the wonderful world of Scouting has to offer your child and you.

Meeting Schedule & Activities

The Pack meets once a month on the 4th Wednesday at 6:30 pm during the school year – check our calendar of events for specific dates. These meetings are held in the hall of the church, located at 2600 Main Street here in Stratford. Our Dens meet two to three times a month, generally on the 2nd and 3rd Wednesday of the month to work towards their achievements and explore their community. Visits to the police or fire departments, geocaching and mapping the neighborhood are just a few examples. Individual den schedules may be obtained from your den leader upon joining. Our Pack calendar can be viewed by clicking the link at the top of the page.

Looking to Join Cub Scouting?

If you have a child in grades K – 5 you are welcome to visit our Pack and participate in a full meeting. Participating in a full meeting with our nearly 40 Scouts will give you great insight into how our Pack operates. If you chose to register your child with our Pack, our Cubmaster will present you with an application and discuss the registration fee and process with you! Our Pack is privileged to offer financial assistance to families so that every child has a chance to enjoy Cub Scouting.
