Every year our Pack camps at one of our fantastic Council Camps at the tail-end of the warm weather. Campfires, marshmallows, and fun. Our Fall campouts are packed with fun! Last year we camped at Deer Lake and held our own fishing derby and launched rockets!
Our Webelos and Arrow of Light dens also get to camp with area Scouts BSA Troops at Council Camporees to gain experience for Scouts BSA.
Every year we have the opportunity to promote the Scouting Program through a popcorn fundraiser to raise funds for our Cub Scout Pack and to help provide the quality programming each Scout deserves! Popcorn is provided by Campmasters with over 70% of the sales going toward Scouting programming. Forms are sent home with Scouts in the fall and popcorn is distributed typically in November. Show and Sell opportunities are also available for those Scouts wishing to participate.
Our Pack also holds several other fundraisers during the year including Camp Cards, Dining for a Cause at Paradise Pizza and Giving Bean Coffee Sales.

Camping isn’t just for the summer months! Every winter, Cub Scout Pack 172 embarks on a weekend camping adventure at one of our Council Camps. Here the Scouts sled, snow hike, play games, and make memories! Winter camping is a nice introduction to camping. The Scouts and parents stay in a large cabin sleeping on bunk beds.
Showering is optional!
Blue & Gold Banquet
Pack 172 celebrates every year with the Blue & Gold Banquet. It brings families together for an evening of fun and cheer. The purpose of the blue and gold banquet is to celebrate the Pack’s anniversary, Scout achievements, thank Pack Leaders and other adults who have helped the Pack, and inspire the Leaders, Scouts, and parents. Pack 172 often invites former members and other Scouting or community Leaders to take part in the Blue & Gold Banquet.
BSA Swim test
In the middle of winter every year we invade the pool at Flood Middle school to take our annual swim test! In addition to the swim test, we use this opportunity to have some good old fashioned swimming fun! It is a great event to shake off those winter blues and pretend its warm outside!
A Scout is Reverent. It is one of the points of the Law. Scout Sunday (or Scout Sabbath or Scout Jumuah) is a way for Scouting to celebrate the connection between Scouting and our faith-based chartered partners. In our Pack’s case, we join Troop 72 and celebrate
The December Pack 172 meeting is always a very exciting meeting because Santa visits and distributes Pinewood Derby kits to the Scouts. These kits consist of blocks of wood that will be carved, ground, and sanded into mini derby cars! There are specific guidelines that the Scouts must follow in crafting their cars to include weight restrictions. The Scouts then take turns racing the cars against their fellow Den Scouts.
