Today our Hiking Club held its February hike at Old Mine Park in Trumbull. We chose Old Mine Park so that hike participants could see some of the areas one of our Council Cub Scout Day Camps are held.
We attempted to hike the blue trail and as usual, our Scour chose to hike the steepest part first (or so we thought.) We discovered that the trails were no as clearly marked as we expected so we had to do some adventurous and creative hiking to make it back to our starting point. Our last 50 feet of trail or so turned out to be very steep and I am happy to say that all of our Scouts, Leaders, parents and siblings made it safely to the end of the hike.
During the hike we reminded ourselves about the outdoor code and leave no trace. We also learned some new hiking skills and searched for animal tracks.
Join us next month when we return to Roosevelt Forest for some hiking!
